Today, only cheap mass-produced lamps act solely as a functional item. The desk lamp provides product designers with great opportunities for creativity and the development of new forms.
A lamp will be chosen to complement a room’s design as well as providing light, and may even be a design feature in itself.
Traditional styles such as piano lamps and banker’s lamps feature materials such as bronze, brass and nickel, and may sit comfortably in interiors that feature wood and rich curtain and furnishing fabrics.
