A brass or bronze light fitting with an antiqued or polished finish will generally co-ordinate with traditional gilded carved frames or other timber framing. Other finishes such as brushed or burnished bronze can also work well in traditional settings.

Chrome or nickel picture lights may be used for contemporary artwork and interiors, although ceiling- or wall-mounted directional track lighting is often specified instead of individual picture lights.

For fine art investments, a zero-heat, zero-UV light will be required.
