Established by Terence Conran and Sean Sutcliffe in 1984, Benchmark Furniture is a design led manufacturer of furniture that has build its reputation on relentless attention to detail and finish. Combining traditional quality with modern technology, it has a proven track record in the design, manufacture and installation of furniture for corporate work spaces, institutions, the hospitality sector, private homes and complex architectural projects.

Benchmark Furniture also manufactures the Wales & Wales collection of outdoor seating for landscape, corporate and leisure clients. The contemporary designs in wood and metal include full benches, backless benches and chairs in various sizes and configurations that enhance urban or provincial schemes as well as the most sensitive architectural settings.

Benchmark furniture is inspired by nature and designed with health, well-being and longevity in mind.

Their non-toxic furniture is made with natural materials, colours and textures, soft profiles and nature-inspired ergonomic shapes, to create spaces that are more human, welcoming and personal.

FSC Wood

Benchmark was one of the first furniture makers in the UK to have chain of custody certification from the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

Natural Materials

Upholstery used was developed in collaboration with the Naturalmat Company, which uses natural, sustainable and biodegradable materials – coir, latex and sheep’s wool. Benchmark does not use plastic foam.

Natural oil finishes and water based glues used have low levels of harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
