Layla Moussa Design

Layla Moussa is the founder of Layla Moussa Design based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Layla is an interior designer and embroidery expert who began her operations in 1981 as an antique dealer specialising in textiles.

Inspired by the Mogul era, as by the treasures of Europe's 17th and 18th centuries, Layla became an expert on embroidery design and process.

Layla adopts many of the old masters' techniques to achieve the standards of required to produce her intricate, hand-embroidered and appliquéd pieces. Linens, silks and jutes are adorned with embroideries in hemp, raffia, silk and precious metal threads.

"I'm in passion with my work. Fabric is my canvas. A painter uses paint to portray his images and I use silk, raffia, hemp, zari and sometimes precious stones to portray my designs."
