BGID was formed in 1974 as a partnership between Phil Fitzpatrick and John Foulds. From humble beginnings at Maltmill Lane the company has grown to currently employ some 50 staff. Paul Doswell joined the Board in 1984, and as Operations Director now oversees the day to day running of the Company’s activities.

BGID moved to Unit 12 of the Griffin Industrial Estate during 1979, where the rolling mill first started to turn out our roller shutter lath and other sections. Unit 3 on the same industrial estate was acquired later, and is used for component manufacture, as well as the company’s well established, Rowley Range and Electroglide domestic garage doors.

Late in 2005, Unit 10 on the Griffin Industrial Estate was purchased, and a state of the art continuous process powder coat paint plant along side a 4 stage pre-treatment plant was installed. Thus the company is able to fully powder coat paint finish most of its products “in-house” allowing it to better control overall product build and finish quality.
