Barnby Designs

Robert Barnby is a young British designer whose aim is to merge elegance and simplicity to create well considered, unique furniture. Having graduated with first class honours (in Furniture and Product Design) two years ago from Nottingham Trent University, Robert is now unveiling his first collection of contemporary, design led furniture. Producing his designs from a workshop in Hay-on-Wye on the Welsh border, Robert endeavours to manufacture on a small batch run basis. In turn giving each item a unique and personal quality.

Believing in the theory that 'good design is as little design as possible' Robert concentrates on designing products that are not burdened with non-essentials. Instead he tries to focus entirely on only the essential aspects of his designs.

Robert sources materials locally where possible, often using timber felled within a 5 miles radius of his workshop. Priding himself on supporting these small scale local woodlands, he hopes to continue to benefit from this fantastically convenient sustainable resource.
