Horne Engineering has been at the forefront of the design, manufacture and distribution of thermostatic valves since 1909. Specialising in the healthcare, leisure, education and social housing sectors, Horne has a product portfolio that includes specialised thermostatic mixing valves, the Optitherm thermostatic clinical tap and a range of surface mounted shower panels with integral thermostatic valves developed to address the needs of a variety of niche applications.
The company's temperature control valves were first developed for domestic hot water storage heaters, which required the hot water to be stored at 60C. This presents a scalding risk, so in the early 1920s, Horne developed the world's first hot water blending valve to mix hot and cold water to a safe and comfortable temperature. Since then, Horne have continued to develop thermostatic mixing valves for institutional and commercial use.
Horne continue to manufacture thermostatic steam control valves for steam calorifiers and recently developed a thermostatic steam and water mixing valve for instantaneous hot water production required for wash down applications or rapid vat/tank filling.
