The Elysia, with its asymmetric lines, is one of Cabuchon's most distinctive baths. It is possibly best known as a free standing bath but it can also be produced as an inset bath that may be built into a variety of surrounds. This inset version is very popular and suits a variety of interior design styles.

The back of the Elysia is 10mm higher than its distinctively curved front so, whilst it works beautifully in inset form, it cannot be undermounted.

Striking double-ended design

The Elysia's bowed front and angled sides give it a striking appearance that works well in both classical and contemporary interiors. The bath is also very comfortable; it has a pronounced slope at either end that allows the bather to adopt a relaxed, reclined position, whilst its two shallow seats add to the comfort, whether the bath is being enjoyed by one or two bathers.

Installation options

Although this version of the Elysia is most commonly selected for inset installations, it can also be supplied with a bespoke side panel that allows it to be used in other settings. One side can be covered when it is to be installed in a niche; two sides can be covered for corner settings; and three sides can be covered if the Elysia is to be installed with just one end (or long side) set against a wall. In all such cases, the panel will be supplied as a continuous piece of the appropriate length, regardless of the number of sides it is to cover.

The rear rim is straight, so it is typically set against a wall, and - as an option - it can be made with an inbuilt tap deck. (A tap deck is not required, of course, if the bath is to be used with a wall-mounted mixer or free-standing riser.) Holes are not pre-drilled for taps and hand-showers because their precise location is best decided on by the user and installer, when the bath can be seen in situ. Cabuchon therefore supplies the bath with only the waste and overflow holes ready-drilled.

Ficore - the benefits

Like all Cabuchon baths, the Elysia is made using the company's own proprietary composite, Ficore®. Offering many advantages over conventional bath materials, it is strong and hardwearing but it allows an unparalleled level of fine detailing. It also demonstrates better resistance to abrasion, acids, alkalis and cigarette burns, and far superior heat retention. Ficore's tough, inflexible structure is also perfect for use with one of Cabuchon's high quality hydrotherapy systems.

Colour options

The use of Ficore also allows the customer to specify literally any colour, or any colour combination. Within its standard price, Cabuchon will match the colour of other manufacturer' sanitaryware. For a small extra charge, the customer can supply a sample of paint, ceramic, stone or fabric for precise computer colour matching. Using this facility, Cabuchon can then match the base colour of variegated materials such as marble or wood.

Like all Cabuchon baths, the Elysia inset bath is handmade by experienced craftsmen. Every bath is produced to order at the company's factory in Lancashire.
