PBC, the independent specialist practice of chartered building surveyors and project managers has recently swapped the fashion district of Regents Street for the spiritual home of England’s journalists, the Fleet Street area, where its recently acquired Grade A City offices offer a modern, light working environment.

Moving from its cramped Piccadilly offices, the business has taken the opportunity to move to the recently refurbished 6-7 New Bridge Street. The location is historically significant as the divide between the hacks of the newspapers and the financiers of the City. Situated behind its new building you can still find the small streets and alleyways made famous by such London diarists as Pepys and Samuel Johnson.

PBC has a long-standing relationship with Quadrant, as we have worked together on a number of projects and share a similar philosophy on product quality and recycling. As the preferred carpet supplier for PBC’s new offices the brief was quickly agreed, with the goal to align the working environment with the striking visual colour of the consultancy’s corporate palate, whilst not over-powering the setting. With an agreed selection of base tone and feature carpet tiles, PBC and our team visualised how the contrasting colours and textured flooring would work within the space, which utilises full height glass interior partitions to create depth.

PBC chose a combination of the block purple of our Elements, Zigana tile for the core of the installation, contrasted with the lighter Zone, Rinky Dink tile that disrupts the block colour through its fusion of strong geometric shapes and subtle tonal shifts. It was essential that the chosen design was BRE ‘A’ rated and class 33 heavy contract rated. Our solution provides a 10 year abrasive wear warranty and a lifetime antistatic warranty so highly suitable for a dynamic and busy office.
