Silva Timber’s Western Red Cedar No.2 Clear & Better Tongue & Groove cladding was used by interior designer Alistair Nicholls to create a boutique wet room that exudes warmth.
When considering cladding options, Alistair turned to Silva Timber, having used the company's wood finish and fasteners before. Timber cladding was chosen for the wet room project since it is “very tactile, warm and inviting”. Western Red Cedar was selected as it provides character, varied colour tones and a pleasing aroma.
No.2 Clear & Better is the second highest grade of Western Red Cedar that Silva Timber supplies, Clear Vertical Grain Heart being the highest. While being an extremely high grade of Western Red Cedar, it allows for minor natural variations in appearance.
For clients like Alistair, the decision to select a lower grade than Clear Vertical Grain Heart is not to save money:
"I didn’t select Silva Timber’s highest grade of Western Red Cedar as I wanted some variation in the grain. Some of the Western Red Cedar No.2 Clear & Better boards we received were quite plain and others had an interesting grain pattern. We decided to juxtapose the interesting grain with the less patterned pieces to further accentuate the grain. My favourite piece was placed just above eye level for maximum impact."
This outstanding design has been featured in the Ideal Home magazine.
