The IBM Research Laboratory in Beijing, founded in 1995, is one of IBM's nine research institutes around the world and is recognised as one of the most outstanding research institutes in China. IBM Research began expanding its businesses in China in 1979 and has since established a total of 31 branches in the country, with its businesses spreading to 350 Chinese cities.
Ferco China worked with IBM to develop the Caspian seat for use at the IBM Research Centre Auditorium.
The Caspian seat is a contemporary, sophisticated auditorium seat with a covered tablet arm (CTA), and was originally designed for the Hanoi Convention Centre project.
The Caspian seat is finished in wood with a reveal, luxury padding and a high back. It can be customised with a concealed tablet which stows neatly into the top of the armrest.
For this project, IBM chose a modern colour palette and minimalist styling, which is complemented by the Caspian's clean lines.
