Quantum Flooring Solutions is a leader in the contract flooring accessories market. This position enables us to innovate in manufacturing, while also exploring the possibilities of industry practice within the guidelines of Building Regulations and British Standards.
With this in mind, Quantum is presenting a new RIBA approved CPD on detailing for flooring. It will be part of RIBA’s core curriculum syllabus. This is the first CPD of its kind, and it will approach detailing with a holistic approach, covering all aspects of flooring accessory specification.
The CPD will look at the correct specification for finishing floorcoverings in the major sectors of commercial and public construction, such as healthcare, hotel and leisure, and office buildings. It will outline the most recent updates in Building Regulations Documents K and M. It will also cover all relevant British Standards for flooring accessories, including the latest advice in BS8300-2:2018.
Quantum’s CPD will explore the most current specification considerations, including advice on stair nosings, cap and cove systems, transitions, and entrance mattings. This will include information on the guidelines for detailing in each particular construction sector. We will also discuss practical difficulties, such as finishing capping and coving at a doorway, along with best practice for specifying products which are the easiest to keep clean and dust-free.
This comprehensive CPD has been designed to cover all relevant areas of floorcovering finishing. It will provide information on the advantages and disadvantages of particular adhesives, along with the chemical and physical background of plasticisers such as phthalates. This will include aspects such as extrusion material memory and tape reliability.
Quantum will also look into areas of specification regarding the psychological effects of flooring accessory colours. This includes pressing design concerns, such as taking the needs of dementia sufferers into account. However, it will also cover aspects such as the pattern effect on larger surfaces, and the way that such issues can affect health and safety for everybody using a building.
For the convenience of specifiers, Quantum’s brand new RIBA CPD on detailing for flooring will be available on demand, remotely, and in office. To book a place, or for any further information, complete the enquiry form opposite.
