- Ironmongery for 120 doors, 60 windows and 170 cupboards
Silver Kite undertook the complete ironmongery supply for 120 doors, 60 windows and 170 cupboards as part of the total remodelling of No. 1 Cornwall Terrace, a Grade 1 listed residence next to Regent's Park in London.
The ironmongery requirements comprised the supply of door and window fittings, many of which had to be specially made to the designer's requirements, along with cupboard and wardrobe fittings.
Key elements
In the main reception rooms the doors required specially made hinges, with a non-standard finial, along with decorative mortice knobs and escutcheons.
On the lower ground floor, surrounding the pool, were situated exercise and treatment rooms which incorporated sliding doors. The fittings supplied for these were flush ring handles operating a privacy lock with a recessed emergency release. A specially made handle to match the flush ring handle was also fitted.
The ball bearing hinges (product code 99733) were specially made and featured finials to the designer's specification.
The 34512 emergency release was fitted to facilitate emergency unlocking of the bathroom lock.
Leading off the master bedroom there were dressing rooms, and for these doors Silver Kite made special pull handles with wood to match the veneer on the doors. The brass parts were “distressed”.
The 99738 pull handles were fitted to the wardrobes in the two dressing rooms. The wood was chosen to match the veneers on the doors, and the handles featured concealed fixings.
The windows required sash fasteners, lifts and sash stops. Silver Kite also supplied brass shutter bars.
The 65007 Weekes sash stop offers a quick way of securing a sash window, and can be positioned to allow the sash to be partly opened for ventilation.
