Mortice knobs can be fitted to both locking and non-locking internal doors, including bathroom doors. Some are designed for use on cabinets, wardrobes and drawers.

Centre knobs are fixed to external doors. For public buildings such as banks and libraries, large sizes are commonly used, whereas smaller centre knobs can be fitted onto residential front doors.
